Wordless Wednesday – view from my new office

Winter morning

Back to work, today we’re packing our stuff at work, we’re moving to a new location. But I always have time to take a few photos. :)

Silly car owners

Many silly drivers out there today, there is snowchaos in Norway today and lots of people get into trouble. In my opinion theres no wonder why, as long as there are silly people like this one out there:

Sledging day at Fløi Mountain

Lots of the snow is washed away but long ago we planned to go up to Fløi Mountain and sledge down. We ended up taking the funicular two times, it was a blast.

Heres on our way up, the windows were a bit dewy:

I’ve created a stitch of the view up there, always a great view:

Heres a few seconds video of the view. :)

I tried to film some on the way down but it wasn’t easy. :) If you want you can slide the whole way down, I think might be done in 10 minutes.

Post from our 2 year old

Its always exciting to fetch our post these days, lots of nice Christmas cards arrives from near and far. The other day we received something we didn’t expect though; Christmas card from our two year old daughter!

She painted it in the kindergarten and they posted it to us, I think that was incredible cute. We had no idea that they did this. Here is the card:

A daytrip to Austevoll

We traveled to our family place today to find a nice Christmas tree, Elin and me decided to postpone it to next weekend because the two eldest kids couldn’t join us. But we tagged along and had a great day, my sister, parents, aunt and cousin found each their lovely tree and we relaxed in the hut celebrating 3rd Sunday in advent. My mother created an awesome soup which tasted lovely, especially in this December weather. Though it unbelievable hot to be in this part of the year. Here are some shots I took with my new iPhone – I’ve decided that I don’t like the camera on it..

Inventing the wheel again

Sometimes I wonder what on earth we’re doing when inventing new stuff. In so many cases it has been done before – either thousands of years ago or just a century or two.

Today I read about the Eko Stoplight by Damjan Stanković and the first thing that came to my mind was Charles Marshall’s invention from 1936(!). Check it out here:

Marshalite

Ofcourse the Eko Stoplight is cooler but… Why do we have to keep reinventing stuff instead of using the knowledge to evolve ourself?

Here is the Eko Light:

I took the swine flu vaccine today

Now that the authorities have opened up for everyone I chose to take the vaccine today. Until now only people in the risk groups were allowed to take it. I went to a nearby vaccine station and were positively surprised by how well it was organized.

To be honest I pictured the opposite because the whole vaccine project has been poorly run, in my opinion. The authorities should allow everyone to take it much earlier, they have the resources. But something weird happened with the delivery of the vaccine, I think the producer struggled a bit to deliver.

Next week I’m going to be in the help group at a vaccine station, Red Cross called me tonight and asked for help. I didn’t have the heart declining because they struggled to cover the shifts.

The authorities in Norway struggle now to get more people to take the vaccine, I think it is because of the authorities’ lack of information – it came too late. People are skeptic because so many people without professional background have written about the vaccine, they have kind of taken advantage of the missing information.

24k Euro found on tram

Last Saturday someone forgot their 24k Euro on a tram in Oslo. Now the police have them for analysis. It reminds me of the lady in Sweden who forgot a lot of money, I wrote about it here.

I’m not going to setup a poll this time, I just want to mention that VG (a large newspaper in Norway) asks these questions in a poll; deliver it to the tram-driver, keep the money or give them to charity. Isn’t that a weird set of options?

What do you think it misses?

I think it misses “deliver them to the police”.

In VG’s poll people are choosing “keep the money”, I would do the same if I had the same options. :)

Though to be honest I would have chosen to keep them for myself then I would visit the police and deliver them there. I wouldn’t give it to the driver.

Lutefisk 2009

I forgot to say that we had our annual Lutelag a few days back. Each year colleges and ex-colleges gather to eat lutefisk, we’ve had this tradition for many years. Each year we eat at a different restaurant, this year we chose Holbergstuen, an old but cozy one – it was a success. Great food and calm environment. I ate two portions this year.
