Do you like my blog’s new look?

Do you like the new theme? Its made by Niyaz, a computer engineer from Kerala in India. I love the fresh look and I think its going to work well on my blog. You can read more about Niyaz here and more about the theme here, his blog is recommended reading.

What do you think?

Update: I am hopeless… I cannot decide, I just know that I need a new theme. :)

Oh, heres a shot I took the other day – forgot to upload it in my latest post, I thought the effect was fun.

My blog-database crashed

All was going well with my blog but there was something I wanted to do. But I managed to crash my database, I rendered it completely useless. A while ago my photoblog crashed and then I decided to schedule the backup in cron, I took a full backup then I monitored the backup-size and saw it grow so I thought it was fine. But it wasn’t. It was generating rubbish and I lost everything. Luckily I managed to de-rubbish some of the data.

Remember backup my friends! :) Now I’ve managed to reconstruct the latest posts but they are empty, I am searching for buffered and cached data on my server and on search engines…

Thanks Google for buffering my pages! Now I’m using that to recreate the content…

Finally a new theme

It was time to change theme, I’ve been looking for ages for a theme that I feel comfortable with but that is difficult. Finally I saw that Vladimir Prelovac had released the Blue Grace theme, a subtheme of Amazing Grace. Amazing it is right? Thanks Vladimir!

I struggled a bit inserting my photos with link to the corresponding posts up there in the header but with the help from Justin Watt’s Random Image plugin I managed to fiddle the photos in. It reads posts of different categories and picks a photo to watch and link to the post. I might have to filter out some tags though, suddenly some weird images appear. :)

Do follow activated

Do Follow

I’ve activated Do Follow today, its going to be exciting to see how it works. I am doing it do award my commenters, and of course its a part of my study – on what makes things tick.

I downloaded the “Do Follow” plugin from Denis de Bernardy, it removes the rel=nofollow from comments. Then I activated the plugin. I downloaded an image from Randa Clay as well, to identify that the nofollow tag is gone.
